I Just Don't Get It...
13 August 2008 - 9:31 PM

I told BigBlueHost nine (9) months ago that I was no longer interested in their services. I told them twice. In writing.

They refused to cancel my service until I provided an explanation regarding my decision.

For the last nine (9) months, they've sent me automated bills via e-mail, however my account has been set to pay manually since I quit. I did this because they billed me once, ten (10) months ago, after I told them I wanted out.

I haven't even used their hosting since I switched. Subsequently, if they ever come asking for their money (which is actually my money), I'll simply notify the BBB.

I'm not angry. More amused at this point. Their monthly e-mails go right to my SPAM folder, so no harm done.

Technically, they owe me $3.95.

ShrinkFile.NET
18 July 2008 - 11:56 AM

One of my sites, ShrinkFile.NET, was recently featured on a list of 21 Online Free Web Based Applications That You Probably Would Love To Use Every Day!

This is good news for two reasons: First off, unexpected publicity and praise are never bad things. Secondly, the article has received over 300 diggs, causing an increase in traffic, and thus ad revenue.

Initial Deposits
29 May 2008 - 12:52 AM

I've established a new policy regarding initial deposits, which is now stated in the FAQ:

QUOTE: "All projects up to $500 will require an initial deposit of 35%, which counts as a portion of the final payment. Projects greater than $500 will be split into segments of $500 or less, each treated as an individual project. The remaining balance on each segment will be due before work on the next segment is initiated, with the remaining balance on the final segment due before files are sent. Work split into multiple segments will be treated as multiple projects in accordance with the terms of use."

Too many people seem to assume that since I conduct business over the internet, my time is not valuable.

Constant Improvements
02 May 2008 - 1:24 PM

I've revised the contact form to include more manditory details (budget, deadline and referrer).

Also, I've changed the timestamp on blog posts to reflect Central Time, as well as the encoding.

Typos and Terms of Use
16 April 2008 - 5:15 PM

I've noticed three or four typos around the site, which I've corrected. Also, the tabs in the source code were sometimes represented as two spaces when I saved the documents, so I've gone back through every file and replaced them with proper indentions.

If you notice any errors (especially sentences with no spaces in between them), please bring them to my attention.

In addition, I've updated the terms of use, so please familiarize yourself with them if you plan on doing business with me. Of course, I reserve the right to change them in the future without notification.

Lastly, I've changed the PayPal button to match the site.

Thanks,
Peter
